Information Minister Hasan Mahmud has advised journalists to contact Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) if they need to test for Covid-19.
“BSMMU authorities have already been informed in this regard. They will consider it with importance if any journalist contacts them for a coronavirus test,” UNB quoted him as saying on Monday while exchanging views with a small group of journalists at his official residence at Dhaka’s Minto Road.
Mentioning that journalists are working round the clock to ensure emergency services, he called for providing them with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
On April 3, 47 staff members of Independent TV were put under home-quarantine after one of their colleagues tested positive for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, 20 staff members of ATN News, a private TV channel, were sent on home-quarantine after one of their colleagues tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday night.
Besides, a Jamuna TV journalist recently tested positive for coronavirus forcing authorities to send 34 of his colleagues on home quarantine.
As of Monday, a total of 803 people have been infected with Covid-19 in Bangladesh. The virus claimed 39 lives till date and 42 people have recovered.
Coronavirus has infected 1,866,654 people globally, thus far. As many as 115,269 people have died of the virus and 434,054 recovered.
