Quader’s health improving post-surgery

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader is responding well to the treatment after going through a coronary bypass surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

He is currently undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, according to a press statement issued by the Road Transport and Highways Division on Thursday.

Prof Dr Abu Nasar Rizvi, neurologist and director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), who is also coordinating Quader’s treatment in Singapore, disclosed Quader’s status quoting his medical board in Singapore.

If Quader’s condition continues improving at the current rate, his doctors hope to move him to a cabin by next week, Dr Rizvi said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, underwent the open heart surgery on Wednesday.

He was admitted to the BSMMU on March 3 after experiencing respiratory distress. Later, he was diagnosed with three arterial blockages.

He was flown to Singapore the next day for treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
