Shopping malls, markets can stay open until 10pm for Durga Puja

The government has extended the operating hours of shopping malls, markets and stores across Bangladesh ahead of Durga Puja 2026, allowing them to remain open from 11am to 10pm until October 22.

The directive was issued on Monday, October 5, 2026, through an office order signed by Sonia Binte Tabib, deputy secretary of the Electricity Division’s Coordination-2 branch under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

According to the order, shopping malls, markets and stores can remain open daily from 11am to 10pm until October 22.

From October 23, the previous schedule of 11am to 8pm will resume and remain in effect.

Copies of the order have been sent to the mayors or administrators of all city corporations, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and other relevant offices for necessary action.
