Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed have been assigned additional parliamentary responsibilities as the government reshuffled the duties for several ministries and divisions during National Parliament sessions.
The Cabinet Division announced the reassignment in a notification issued on Thursday.
Under the new arrangement, Salahuddin Ahmed will handle parliamentary affairs of the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Division.
In his absence, Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir will perform these duties.
Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has been assigned parliamentary affairs of the President’s Office, Election Commission Secretariat and National Parliament Secretariat.
In his absence, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman will perform these responsibilities.
The notification said the designated ministers will handle parliamentary affairs of ministries and divisions, including those under the Prime Minister’s portfolio and the President’s Office, that do not have a minister or state minister appointed.
The reassignment will remain in effect until further orders.
The notification also said all other provisions of previous notifications issued by the Cabinet Division on March 17, April 6, July 16 and August 20 this year will remain unchanged.
The new arrangement takes effect immediately.
Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani signed the notification under the president's order.
