Bangabandhu Public Administration Medal facing cancellation, recipients under scrutiny

The potential cancellation of the Bangabandhu Public Administration Medal, the top award for government officials and employees, has caused anxiety among its previous recipients.

Awardees from the Awami League era are being identified as individuals who received "special privileges" from the Hasina administration.

It is being said that these award recipients were primarily partisan and politically favored, receiving the award based on political considerations rather than merit. As a result, they are now on a list of suspicion, according to sources from the Ministry of Public Administration.

Following the cancellation of the award, punitive measures may also be taken against the recipients, they added.

Sources further said that several awards, including the Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award, Bangabandhu International Peace Award, Bangabandhu Public Administration Medal, Sheikh Russel Medal, Bangabandhu Award for Wildlife Conservation, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial Award, have already been canceled.

The Ministry of Public Administration has initiated the process of cancellation of the Bangabandhu Public Administration Medal, and the award may be abolished at any time.

However, no one can confirm the exact date when the cancellation order will be issued.
