Adviser: No innocent to be punished under Operation Devil Hunt

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said several committees have been formed to ensure no innocent persons are wrongfully punished during the nationwide Operation Devil Hunt.

“No major or minor offenders will be spared in Operation Devil Hunt, and only those involved in criminal activities will be arrested. Even law enforcement officials will not be exempted from the operation. It will continue until the country is free from criminals,” the adviser shared the details while speaking to reporters after a meeting with law enforcement agencies in Rajshahi division, held at the Rajshahi deputy commissioner's office on Monday.

Regarding daily essentials, the adviser assured all that the prices will remain stable during Ramadan due to adequate supplies of dates and chickpeas.

He also said there is no fertilizer shortage in the country.

Jahangir, however, blamed unscrupulous dealers for artificially inflating the prices of daily essentials during Ramadan.

In contrast, he said, prices typically decrease during this period in foreign countries.

“Legal action will be taken against dishonest traders involved in creating artificial shortages,” he warned.
