Home Adviser Lt General (Retd) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that there are no concerns regarding the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, saying that this year’s Puja will proceed very smoothly with no issues whatsoever.
"We also seek your cooperation in this regard. While police and Ansar members are always present, this year additional forces from RAB, BGB, and the army have been deployed," he said this to reporters after visiting the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute in Gazipur on Tuesday morning.
Regarding market syndicates, the adviser said that efforts are being made to control prices. He expressed confidence that the market would soon stabilize at a more reasonable level, adding that if any syndicate exists, the Ministry of Commerce will dismantle it.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury praised the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute for its contributions to advancements in agriculture.
He said: "During the Liberation War, our population was seven crores. While the population has increased, arable land has not. It is important to remember that the agriculture sector plays the most significant role in the country's development. This institute is working to improve agriculture."
