The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has decided to postpone the consideration of a proposal to increase fuel prices.
Public Relations Officer of the Ministry Mohammad Shafiullah confirmed this decision in a press release on Sunday evening.
The release states that under Section 34(A) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (Amendment) Act, 2023, the government’s proposal to raise fuel prices has led to negative articles in national dailies and has created or may create public discontent.
In light of this, it has been decided that the consideration of the proposed price increase will be postponed for the time being.
