Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said since the 1960s, the country's architects have designed buildings keeping climate change in mind.
“Buildings in our sector are and will be constructed with consideration of our country's ecology. The environment will be healthier as more green building constructions take place, the state minister said in his speech as the chief guest at an open competition for the design of the Nesco Main Control Centre (MCC), Rajshahi at the Institute of Architects, Bangladesh building on Thursday.
He said: "Environmentally friendly, energy-efficient green buildings are the need of the time. Along with energy saving in all areas, we must continue the initiative to make the building energy efficient.”
Northern Electricity Supply Company (Nesco) has taken the initiative to construct its Main Control Centre for monitoring and controlling all Nesco substations in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
A team of 12 students led by Mohammad Naimul Ahsan Khan secured the first position in the competition.
