Govt seeks info of Biranganas to include names in gazette

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has urged all concerned to give information of the Biranganas (war heroine) who were physically and mentally tortured by the Pakistani occupation forces and their local allies including Razakar, Al-Badar, Al-Shams, and other anti-liberation forces during the Liberation War of 1971, for including their names in the gazette.

The ministry has asked all concerned to submit applications to the respective upazila nirbahi officers (UNO) in this regard. Necessary documents such as national identity card (NID) or war-time commander’s report or local freedom fighters’ report (if any) are needed to be submitted with the concerned application, a press release of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs said on Thursday.

The UNOs will send those applications directly to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs along with the opinion of the Upazila Freedom Fighters Verification and Selection Committee.

Besides, if any other person, organization, researcher, women’s organization, or non-governmental organization (NGO) has information about any Birangana, it has been requested to provide it to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
