The government has decided to pay two months of additional salary to medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, who are on the frontline in fighting the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
A circular is likely to be issued in this regard by the Finance Division on Monday.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that medical professionals will be rewarded for their services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Medical professionals, the frontline fighters of Covid-19 will get an extra two-month of salary from the government,” Shirajun Noor Chowdhury, joint secretary of the Finance Division told Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
“However, other officials -- police, field administration officials, joint forces -- who are also working amid the pandemic will not be under the honorarium,” he added.
Earlier, the government declared that family members of the frontline fighters will be eligible for compensation, if anyone dies after getting infected with Covid-19, as per pay scale grade. Also, the employees will be given Tk5 lakh to Tk10 lakh if they get infected with Covid-19.
On April 23, a Circular was issued in this regard by the Finance Division.

Earlier, on April 7, the prime minister announced allowances for the frontline fighters.
According to the circular, the health professionals including physicians and nurses, officials under field administration, law enforcers, armed forces and others staffers working directly amid the pandemic will be able to get the financial facilities as compensation.
