Farhad Hossain is going to be the first person to hold a cabinet position from the historic Meherpur-Mujibnagar area.
Farhad Hossain Dodul, Member of Parliament (MP) from Meherpur 1 constituency, has been selected to be the State Minister for the Ministry of Public Administration in the upcoming cabinet, followed by Awami League's landslide victory in the 11th parliamentary election held on December 30.
As a state minister, he will be under the lead of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has kept the portfolio to herself.
Farhad was elected MP twice on December 30 and in the 2014 general polls. He was also the district Awami League president.
Before being elected as an MP in 2014, Farhad Hossain was an assistant professor at Dhaka City College. He was also a central committee member of Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League.
Farhad received his Honours and Masters degree in English from Dhaka University.
He got his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Meherpur Government High School, he received his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Khulna Daulatpur College.
His father, Mohammad Sahiuddin, the founding president of Meherpur Awami League, was elected MP from this constituency multiple times before his death in 1990.
Farhad Hossain is also the husband of late Awami League leader Syed Ashraful Islam's cousin.
