The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has made it mandatory for all visa applicants to submit a prescribed ‘Visa Undertaking Form’ along with their applications.
The high commission announced the requirement in an urgent advisory published on its visa portal on Thursday.
Under the new instructions, applicants must download the designated form from the link provided by the high commission, fill it out correctly, scan it and upload it with their online applications through the NIC Visa Application Portal. Applications submitted using any other format will not be accepted.
The high commission said the initiative aims to make the visa application process more transparent and orderly.
The one-page form requires applicants to declare that they will visit India only for the purpose stated in their applications, that they reside within the jurisdiction of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on the date of application, and that all information provided is accurate.
In the personal details section, applicants must provide five mandatory details: their name as shown in the passport, passport number, nationality, date of birth and current address in Dhaka.
They must also clearly state the purpose of their visit, such as tourism, business, medical treatment or attending a conference.
The undertaking includes commitments to return to their home country immediately after the visit, not overstay their visa and comply with Indian laws, regulations and culture while in the country.
The form warns that violations of Indian laws may lead to visa cancellation and affect an applicant’s eligibility for future visas.
Applicants must sign the form and mention the place and date of signing. For minors, both parents are required to sign it.
