Bangladesh on Wednesday expressed solidarity with the government and the people of Nepal following devastating flash floods and mudslides that have caused deaths and destruction in the Himalayan country, saying it stands ready to assist the country in relief and rescue efforts.
"The people of Bangladesh are shocked and saddened by the sudden flash floods and mudslide in Nepal causing death and destruction," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"As we keep following the reports, there are hundreds missing, many of them feared to be dead including tourists," said the government of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh expressed deep condolences for the deceased. "We hope for early recovery and treatment of those missing."
Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu also expressed deep shock and sadness over the tragic loss of life and properties caused by the sudden flash flood in the Bhote Koshi river in Rasuwa and surrounding districts in northern Nepal on Wednesday.
"We extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved families who met irreparable losses in the incident. We are following up developments and stand in solidarity with the people and government of Nepal struggling to conduct the rescue efforts there," said the embassy in a message.
