The body of Bangladeshi worker Abdullah Al Mamun, who was killed in a missile attack in Saudi Arabia, arrived in the country on Monday morning.
His body reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 9:45am on a Saudi Airlines flight.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury received the body at the airport.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said that seven Bangladeshi nationals have so far been reported killed amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
“We have received the bodies of four victims, while one has been buried in Saudi Arabia with the consent of the family,” he said.
He added that the family of the deceased has been provided Tk35,000 for burial and Tk50,000 as immediate financial assistance from the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board. An additional Tk300,000 will be given as compensation.
Mamun sustained severe burn injuries when an Iranian missile struck the Al-Kharj area on March 8, leaving around 90% of his body burned. He later died while undergoing treatment in Riyadh.
He hailed from Rasulpur village in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh.
