Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen on Wednesday said the security landscape and global order were "ever-changing" and warranted "innovative approaches" for diplomacy and military strategy.
He was addressing a delegation from the National Defence College, New Delhi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The 15-member delegation comprising participants from India, Japan, Russia, Indonesia and Uzbekistan visited the ministry as part of its “Strategic Neighbourhood Study Tour 2023.”
Rear Admiral (Retd) Md Khurshed Alam, secretary of the ministry’s Maritime Affairs Unit, also interacted with them.
The foreign secretary, in his remarks, noted that diplomacy had emerged as a powerful tool to navigate through the intricate security landscape of this transformative era.
"The foreign policy dictum of our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, "Friendship to all, malice towards none," serves as the bastion of Bangladesh’s dialogue and negotiation, fostering partnerships with other nations including her neighbours, regional organizations and international bodies."
He stated that the ministry had been working with the United Nations to increase the number of peacekeepers in UN Peacekeeping missions to ensure global peace and security.
By investing in research, intelligence gathering and sharing best practices, the ministry and the Armed Forces remained at the forefront of national and global security architecture, said the secretary.
Secretary Khurshed Alam gave an overview of the activities of the ministry and the foreign policy priorities of Bangladesh.
He noted the remarkable achievements of Bangladesh in the socioeconomic sphere made under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The secretary described the basic tools of Bangladesh’s foreign policy followed in maintaining relations with its neighbours and beyond.
He also talked about how Bangladesh tried to promote its peace-centric foreign policy at the regional and international levels.
