Former British high commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson has been appointed as the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the UK Mission to Afghanistan.
Robert Chatterton Dickson will succeed Hugo Shorter, who will move on to another diplomatic service appointment.
Dickson is set to begin his new position in July, according to GOV.UK, a United Kingdom public sector information website.
Prior to this, Robert Chatterton Dickson was appointed as the British high commissioner to Bangladesh from 2019-2023.
From 2018 to 2019, he served as the additional director of the West Balkans Programme at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
Robert Chatterton Dickson also served as the director of the National Security Secretariat from 2015 to 2018 at the British Cabinet Office.
On Thursday, the new British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, presented her credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin in a ceremony at Bangabhaban.
She served as head of the UK aid agency in Dhaka, DFID, between 2012 and 2016.
Before taking up her new assignment, she was at the British foreign office in London as the head of the South East Asia Department.
