India has the willingness and political support to export fuel oils to Bangladesh, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam has said.
The state minister, who is in India as part of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s entourage, made the statement while briefing reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday.
He said Bangladesh would also want to procure gas from India, adding that the ministries concerned would discuss the matter with the Indian side.
Besides, India had expressed its interest to invest more in Bangladesh’s energy and power sector, media reports quoted the state minister as saying.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh and India signed seven memorandums of understanding (MoU) demonstrating cooperation in a number of areas including water sharing of the Kushiyara River.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi witnessed the signing of the bilateral instruments.
