The body of the second of seven Bangladeshis, who died of hypothermia near Lampedusa island of Italy on January 25, arrived home on Saturday, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has said.
The seven Bangladeshis were trying to reach Europe from Libya through the Mediterranean Sea.
"The body of Joy Talukder from Madaripur district arrived on a Turkish Airlines flight at around 2pm," an official of the expatriates' welfare desk at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport under the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment told Dhaka Tribune.
The body of the first Bangladeshi, Emran Howladar, also from Madaripur, arrived on Friday, he said.
Following the completion of formalities, the bodies were handed over to the families of the deceased, he added.
The bodies of the remaining five are scheduled to arrive between February 13 and February 21, according to the Bangladesh embassy in Rome.
