Exhibition on 1971 Liberation War begins at Agartala

A three-day photo exhibition on the Liberation War of Bangladesh began on Thursday in Agartala, India, displaying hundreds of photos on the 1971 war.
The event, sponsored by ATN News, was inaugurated by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by leading public figures, including Bangladesh State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, ATN News and ATN Bangla Chairman Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, and ATN News Chief Executive Editor Munni Saha.
A cultural programme was also organised at the event, performed by local folk group Dohar and Bangladeshi band Gaan Pagol.
Addressing the event, ATN News chief Dr Mahfuzur Rahman said: “We wish to set up a museum at Agartala that would preserve the memories of our Liberation War. We are seeking the cooperation of the Tripura government to make the museum a reality.”
State Minister MA Mannan echoed Mahfuzur's remark during his speech.
Speaking on the matter, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said: “We will surely consider the matter, if a proposal comes to us from the government of Bangladesh, as it is a matter concerning two nations.”
ATN News also announced to honour five Tripura citizens for their contribution during the Liberation War.
They are: Captain Bibhu Ranjan Chatterjee, former inspector general of prisons of Tripura Nani Gopal Kar Bhowmik, Prof Mihir Dev, Ardhendu Chakraborty and Swapan Bhattacharjee.
Among them, Bibhu Ranjan and Nani Gopal have passed away.
The exhibition is scheduled to end on Saturday.
