The High Commission of India has celebrated the 5th International day of Yoga at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
Around 7,000 people practiced yoga together on Friday. While experts and students of the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) demonstrated Common Yoga Protocol and yoga asanas.
Minister of Foreign Affairs A. K. Abdul Momen, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, State Minister of Shipping of Bangladesh Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, attended the event.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das delivered the welcome remarks.
She said: "A huge crowd has gathered here. More than 20 organizations are participating. We are doing yoga outside of Dhaka as well."
We are happy that Bangladesh is celebrating yoga enthusiastically, and we will continue to promote yoga in Dhaka, she added.

Sports associations, yoga associations and institute, and students from various schools, colleges and universities of Bangladesh participated in the event.
Several celebrities—including sports personalities, popular film actors, singers etc. —were also in attendance.
Similar events were also organized in other cities of Bangladesh by the High Commission of India and Assistant High Commissions of India.
Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India.
A total of 175 nations co-sponsored the United Nations (UN) resolution— the highest number for any UN resolution—declaring June 21 the International Day of Yoga.
