Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said voters will reject BNP and vote for the boat, Awami League’s symbol and a symbol of the liberation war.
“People are now divided in two factions - anti-communal forces that believe in the spirit of the liberation war, united under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, and the other an anti-liberation force being united under the leadership of BNP,” said Quader.
Quader said this after paying tribute to martyred intellectuals at the of Martyred Intellectuals Memorial Graveyard in Mirpur, marking Martyred Intellectual’s Day.
“This is the month of victory and people are aware of the struggle that brought freedom to our countrymen. They want peace, development, and success for the country.
“As the boat is a symbol of the Liberation War and polls are being held in the victory month, they will choose the boat to give their mandate and will reject the communal force, BNP,” said Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister.
Paying homage to the country’s martyred intellectuals, he said people of all strata who believe in the spirit of the liberation war, are now recalling the martyred intellectuals with deep respect.
The occupation forces and their collaborator Rajakars, Al-Badar, and Al-Shams, jointly killed the greatest sons of the soil on December 14 in 1971.
