In order to raise awareness during the “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” observed worldwide in October, the Apollo Hospitals Dhaka will organize a ‘PinkaThon’ or a breast cancer awareness walkathon, at 10:30am on Saturday, stated a press release issued by the hospital.
The Apollo employees along with doctors, patients, survivors, celebrities, corporate officials, members of “Inner Wheel Club,” university students, media personnel along with the Bashundhara community will participate in the walkathon.
Breast cancer is globally recognized as the second most common form of cancer causing the highest mortality among women. The whole month is dedicated to spreading awareness regarding the prevention, early detection, screening and treatment necessary to reduce premature mortality from this disease worldwide.
The Apollo Hospitals has already organized a number of seminars and forum speaking sessions to save lives through awareness by early detection. The doctors highlighted that every woman should get prescribed monthly check-up of her breasts.
