The Election Commission (EC) has started the process of sending ballot papers to returning officers ahead of the 12th national parliamentary election.
On the first day, the EC sent ballots to 52 constituencies in 13 districts of the country. They are Panchagarh, Gaibandha, Meherpur, Kushtia, Magura, Chapainawabganj, Jaipurhat, Rangamati, Jhalakathi, Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali, and Netrakona.
The ballot papers were sent from the capital's Government Printing Press, BG Press, and Security Printing Press on Monday.
Mohammad Shahjalal, senior assistant secretary of the EC's Election Management and Coordination Branch, confirmed the information.
He said: "Considering remote districts, arrangements have been made to send ballot papers in advance to 13 districts. There are also other tasks, such as sending the ballot papers to the centre.”
The ballot papers will be securely stored under police protection at the treasury section of the local district administration.
Mohammad Shahjalal said: "Strike-blockade entails no risk. These ballot papers will be delivered through adequate security. To collect the ballot papers, an executive magistrate, an election official, and security officers have come from the districts. Additionally, there will be safety protocols on the highways.”
