Popular YouTuber Ashraful Hossen Alom, also known as Hero Alom got back his candidature for the Bogra-4 constituency in the 12th parliamentary election after filing an appeal with the Election Commission.
The commission, led by Cheif Election Commission Kazi Habibul Awal, declared Hero Alom's candidature valid after hearing the appeal on Sunday.
In this regard, Hero Alom told reporters: "I had announced that I will get back the candidacy from the Election Commission. I got my candidature back at the hearing. Thanks to the Election Commission.”
He added: "I will be on the field until the end. I hope to win if there is a fair election.”
On December 3, Hero Alom’s nomination for the Bogra-4 seat was cancelled.
It was cancelled because his affidavit did not have a signature. There was an error in the tax return.
Hero Alom submitted nomination papers from the Gono Odhikar Party of the Bangladesh Congress alliance on December 30.
His assistant Sujan Rahman Shubo submitted nomination papers to the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Saiful Islam.
Hero Alom previously contested the Bogra-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram) constituency as an independent candidate in the 11th national election but was defeated.
Subsequently, BNP MPs resigned from Bogra-4 and Bogra-6 (Sadar) constituencies, leading to vacant seats. Hero Alom participated in the by-elections for these constituencies but faced defeat again, alleging rigging.
The national polls is scheduled for January 7 next year.
