The Election Commission on Thursday approved the transfers of 158 more upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) ahead of the 12th national polls, scheduled for January 7.
The Election Commission gave the approval after receiving two proposals from the Public Administration Ministry.
So far, a total of 205 UNOs’ transfer has been approved by the commission.
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission (EC) approved a proposal of the Public Security Division of the home ministry for the transfer of the officers-in-charge (OCs) of 338 police stations.
On December 1, the ElectoionC asked the government to transfer OCs who have completed six months of service at their current workplace to other districts and upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) who have completed a year in phases to conduct the 12th parliamentary elections in a fair manner.
Voting in the 12th parliamentary election will be held on January 7.
