Local organizations have to apply to the Election Commission by November 25 to become observers in the upcoming national parliamentary polls.
Md Ashadul Haque, assistant director of EC’s public relations department, disclosed the information on Thursday.
He said that the organizations which are willing to be observers, have to apply to EC within 10 days of the polls schedule announcement. In the application, they have to mention the areas where they will observe the election.
The registered observer organizations have to apply in their own pad (hard copy) of the organization as per the prescribed schedule and application form.
After obtaining permission from the Election Commission, identity cards and car stickers of central observers will be provided from the Election Commission Secretariat.
Identity cards and vehicle stickers of local observers will be issued from the office of the concerned returning or assistant returning officer.
Attested photocopy of SSC or equivalent certificate of authorized observer, attested photocopy of national identity card, form undertaking duly filled will have to be submitted during collection of identity card and vehicle sticker.
Form EO-2 and Form EO-3 (Undertaking) along with “Observer Policy 2023” are available on Election Commission Secretariat website (www.ecs.gov.bd).
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal announced the schedule for the 12th parliamentary elections, with the polls set to be held on January 7.
