The Election Commission has called a meeting to announce the schedule for the upcoming general election, according to sources familiar with the matter.
After the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal might announce the schedule by addressing the nation at 7pm, they said.
The commission took the decision at an unofficial meeting on Tuesday, the sources added.
The current parliament's term concludes on January 29. As per constitutional provisions, the national election is mandated to take place within the final 90 days of a parliament's tenure. The countdown for this period started on November 1.
