Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua has accused the BNP-Oikya Front of trying to make the army questionable.
Dilip, also a 14 party alliance member, said this to the media on Wednesday after meeting with Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed.
He said: “The BNP-Jatiya Oikya Front is trying to create dispute with the army. Earlier, they asked for army deployment in the election. But now they are giving negative statements against the army.
“Their statements are objectionable and politically incited. We have urged the commission to take steps so that no one can make the Bangladesh Army’s work questionable.”
Dilip also said: “The BNP and the Oikya Front are trying to the make election questionable, as well. We have submitted a written complaint to the CEC about this.”
Replying to a question, Dilip said: "I can give a 100% guarantee that the election will be held and it will be held in peaceful manner."
Pointing at the BNP-Jamaat, he said: "They have a hidden agenda and their goal is to create an anarchic situation. They want to create instability in the country.”
He also urged the commission to ensure security for the minority communities before and after the election.
Earlier the Awami League led grand alliance called upon the Election Commission to remain alert over “conspiracies, terrorism, propaganda and hidden agenda” of Jaitya Oikya Front and BNP-Jamaat.
