The Election Commission (EC) has declared its decision pending on the appeal petition filed by Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique, over an earlier rejection of his candidacy for the upcoming 11th parliamentary election.
Kader Siddique submitted nomination forms for contesting in the Tangail 4 (Kalihati upazila) and Tangail 8 (Basail and Sakhipur upazilas) constituencies.
His candidacy was rejected on charges of loan default.
The hearings on appeal petitions will conclude on Saturday. The hearings for candidates with cases numbered from 161 to 310 took place on Friday, while the hearings on cases numbered from 311 to 543 are being held on Saturday.
The 11th general election is scheduled to be held on December 30. The last date for withdrawing candidacies is December 9.
