Two Dhaka University students have been detained for allegedly abducting a salesman. An abduction suit has been filed in this regard.
The businessman Sohel was rescued from SM Hall in a police drive on Tuesday evening, Dhaka University Proctor Amzad Ali told the Dhaka Tribune.
Two students - Alamgir Hossain, masters student of world religion and culture and Nazmul Karim Shuvo, final year student of sociology – were held, he added.
The abductee was identified as a salesman of Kazi Manufacturing Limited from Nazimuddin Road adjacent to the campus.
Any political identity of the two remained unclear. SM Hall Bangladesh Chhatra League General Secretary Didarul Alam said the duo were not activists.
Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Jafar Ali confirmed endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune. “Sohel has filed an abduction suit in this regard.”
Meanwhile, any further decision regarding university authority will remain pending until Wednesday morning, the proctor said.
