The vice-chancellor of Brac University and other senior officials are set to meet agitating students protesting against an assault on lecturer Farhaan Uddin Ahmed.
The meeting is likely to be held at 2pm Monday at the Brac University Auditorium, according to a Facebook post by Farhaan, a lecturer at the university’s School of Law.
He was assaulted by Registrar Maj Gen (retd) Muhammad Sahool Afzal, Assistant Registrar Md Mahi Uddin and Senior Officer of Co-Curricular Activities Jabed Rasel on Sunday.

The news of the assault sparked an outrage among the students who staged protests on the campus till midnight. They demanded the registrar's apology for the assault.
The students finally left the campus after the registrar agreed to meet their demand.
Describing the incident, Farhaan wrote: “As per the demand the Vice Chancellor along with other senior officials agreed to meet the students and me today at 2pm at the Brac University Auditorium.”
Farhaan’s appointment at the university was contractual. As his contract expired, he was called to the registrar’s office to discuss it. At one point of the meeting, the registrar, assistant registrar and a senior officer physically attacked him.
