The Dhaka Education Board has sought an explanation from Nasima Kadir Molla High School and Homes in Narsingdi after all 382 of its SSC candidates secured GPA-5 this year, sparking controversy.
The board wants to know whether the school used any “irregular means” to achieve the 100% GPA-5 result.
A show-cause notice was sent to the school’s headteacher on Sunday following media reports that the institution had allegedly prevented some students from sitting for the SSC examination to boost its GPA-5 rate.
In an office order, the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board said it had sought an explanation and verification of the school’s results.
The headteacher has been asked to appear before the board within seven working days with relevant documents, including admission records, class 9 registration data, selection-test records and information on students who completed SSC form submissions.
Headteacher Md Emon Ahmed said, “We are aware of the show-cause notice. Of our 485 students, 103 failed the selection test, so 382 were allowed to sit for the final examination. All of them secured GPA-5. A group is spreading misinformation about the matter. All our activities are transparent, and we will respond to the board within the stipulated time.”
Earlier, all 320 candidates from the school secured GPA-5 in the 2025 SSC examinations. Of them, 317 were from the science group and three from the business studies group.
