The number of educational institutions where no student passed the SSC and equivalent examinations has more than doubled this year, while the number of institutions achieving a 100% pass rate has declined.
Among the nine general education boards, 312 institutions recorded a zero pass rate this year, up from 134 in 2025 — an increase of 178 institutions, or nearly 133%.
The figures were revealed in the statistics of the 2026 SSC and equivalent examination results published on Monday.
At the same time, the number of institutions where all students passed fell from 984 last year to 669 this year, a decline of 315 institutions.
Overall, the pass rate in the SSC and equivalent examinations fell to 62.25% this year from 68.45% in 2025, a decline of 6.20 percentage points.
A total of 18,29,485 students took the examinations this year, of whom 11,38,897 passed. Last year, 1,904,086 candidates sat for the examinations and 1,303,426 passed.
The number of GPA-5 achievers also declined, from 139,032 last year to 116,676 this year, a decrease of 22,356.
Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon formally inaugurated the publication of the results at the Education Ministry’s conference room at 10am on Monday. The chairmen of all education boards handed over the results to the minister at the event.
