All education boards see drop in SSC, equivalent exam pass rates

This year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examination results show a significant decline in the overall pass rate across all boards compared to previous years, according to results published on Thursday.

The nationwide pass rate has dropped to 68.45% this year from 83.04% in 2024, reflecting a decline of nearly 15%.

In 2024, out of 2,013,597 examinees, 1,672,153 students passed the exams.

In contrast, this year, only 1,203,426 students passed out of 1,904,086 candidates.

This year, the Dhaka Board recorded a pass rate of 67.51%, a sharp decline from last year’s 89.32%.

Chittagong Board saw a pass rate of 72.07%, down from 82.80%.

Rajshahi Board reported a pass rate of 77.63%, compared to 89.25% last year.

In Comilla Board, the pass rate dropped to 63.60% from 79.23% in the previous year.

Jessore Board, which held the highest pass rate last year at 92.33%, experienced a decline to 73.69% this year.

Dinajpur Board registered a pass rate of 67.03%, down from 78.43% last year.

Mymensingh Board saw a steep drop from 84.97% to 58.22% this year.

The Madrasa Education Board posted a pass rate of 68.09%, compared to 79.66% in 2024.

Barisal Board recorded the lowest pass rate this year at 56.38%, a significant drop from last year’s 89.13%.

Sylhet Board reported a pass rate of 68.57%, down from 73.35% the previous year.

The Technical Education Board recorded a pass rate of 73.63% this year, compared to 81.38% in 2023.

The SSC and equivalent examinations under nine general education boards, the Technical Education Board and the Madrasa Education Board began on April 10 and concluded on May 13 with the end of the theoretical exams.
