Online college admission confirmed without applying, complaint made to Dhaka board

Some students of Bhawal Mirzapur Hazi Jamir Uddin School and College in Gazipur Sadar upazila, while applying for college, has come across their applications already being granted to the same college.

In this regard, 12 students filed a written complaint with the chairman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka against the authorities of the college.

Sadia Akhter, a student who passed the SSC examination from science department this year with GPA-5 from the school, said: “Neither I nor my family have applied for my HSC online admission and have not deposited the money.”

“However, on December 8, I received a message on my mobile phone saying that the admission application was successful and Tk150 had been deposited for the admission. In that application, the name of Bhawal Mirzapur Hazi Jamir Uddin School and College has been given as the first choice along with the names of several colleges of nearby Kaliakair and Kapasia upazilas,” she added.

She later went to a local computer shop to try applying again. However, neither the new application was accepted nor the previous one could be cancelled.

Sadia then went to the college with her father to talk to the headmaster Sanwar Hossain who ignored her problem.

Similarly, another student of the same college Azim Hossain of humanities department with GPA 3.06 said that he did not apply or pay any fee to get admitted in the college.

“Without my consent, the college administration made my application. For this reason, I have made a written request to the chairman of Dhaka Education Board to cancel my application and make a fair investigation as to why the application was made without permission,” he added.

Mahfil Hossain, a student who passed out from business education department, made the same complaint and said: “When my parents asked why this was done, the college authorities behaved rudely with them and told them that I would not get admitted to any other institution.”

Bhawal Mirzapur Hazi Jamir Uddin School and College headmaster Sanwar Hossain denied the allegation and said that the college only helped the one's interested to get admission to the college.

Gazipur District Secondary Education Officer Rebecca Sultana said that it is a punishable offense to apply without the knowledge of students. In this regard, she asked the aggrieved students to file a written complaint.
