The Dhaka University authorities have suspended in-person classes and decided to go virtual after the government shut all schools and colleges across the country for two weeks in an effort to limit the spread of Covid-19 infections.
Pro Vice-Chancellor ASM Maqsud Kamal said on Friday that an official notification will be issued soon.
"All classes and exams will be held virtually until February 6," he told Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier in the day, the Cabinet Division said in a notification that all schools and colleges will remain close from January 21 (Friday) to February 6.

The decision to close universities was left to the authorities of the institutions in the notification.
Soon after the Cabinet Division directive the National University announced to suspend all exams.
The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) and the Jahangirnagar University suspended in-person classes a few days earlier.

After the pandemic unfolded in Bangladesh, all educational institutions were shut from March 17, 2020. After a closure of 18 months, schools and colleges were reopened on September 12 last year with in-person classes in a limited scale.
