The government has postponed the online admission applications to public schools across the country for the upcoming academic year.
The Department of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) made the announcement on Tuesday in a notice signed by Prof Syed Md Golam Faruk, director general of DSHE.
The new date and time of the lottery will be informed later, according to the notice.
The lottery draw for the online admission was scheduled on December 30. However, the decision to postpone the lottery came following a High Court bench on Tuesday suspending the government order of not admitting students under 11 years in Class VI.

The High Court also directed to extend the admission application date for one more week in schools, as children under 11 failed to apply at sixth grade in time.
The bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by a student’s guardian.
On December 11, the DHSE announced that lottery draws for admissions to public schools would be held on December 30.
The decision was taken to admit new students in public schools on the basis of a lottery system in light of the coronavirus situation in the country.
The admission seekers were asked to submit online applications between December 15 and 27.
