The Ministry of Education has decided to conduct online classes for the academic year 2020-21 for the first year of college (class XI) starting October 4.
The classes will kick off through an inauguration program organized by the education ministry on the same day.
Prof Ziaul Haque, president of the inter-education board coordination sub-committee, issued two separate directives regarding the issues on Thursday.
One directive asked all education boards and all concerned institutions to take necessary steps to start online classes from October 4, stating that the decision was taken because regular classes are currently off limits due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The other directive stated that Education Minister Dipu Moni will inaugurate the online classes at 10am on October 4 as a chief guest, while Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury will be present as the special guest at the program organized at Dhaka College.
The online admission process for grade XI in the 2020-2021 academic year started on August 9 and ends on September 17.
Earlier, the education ministry said that the ongoing shutdown of educational institutions in the country will be extended further due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Education Minister Dipu Moni said there was no alternative to extending the closure of educational institutes in stages due to uncertainty regarding Covid-19.
The previously announced closure of educational institutions had been scheduled to end on October 3.
