Education Minister Dipu Moni has announced that coaching centres across Bangladesh will remain closed during the entire length of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations.
The minister made the announcement after a meeting regarding the subject took place at the Secretariat on Monday.
She said: "This is to ensure the exams are held in a free and fair atmosphere. All coaching centres will remain closed since we cannot take any special measures.”
According to the minister, the security measures in place will be similar to the ones taken for the SSC exams earlier this year.
Aluminum foil envelopes will be used instead of paper to contain the questions, candidates will have to enter the exam centers 30 minutes before the exam starts, no electronic devices will be permitted within 200meters of exam centers, only the authorities inside the exam centers can use mobile phones, and the question sets will be determined 25 minutes before the exams start in order to prevent leaks.
This year, 13,51,309 students are expected to sit for the HSC and equivalent exams scheduled to begin from April 1.
The written tests will end on May 5. The practical exams will begin on May 12 and end on May 21.
