A prisoner at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Shamim, 32.
Prison guards brought Shamim to the DMCH emergency department in an ailing condition on Saturday morning. After examination, on-duty doctors declared him dead at 10:20am.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman of the DMCH police outpost said Shamim hailed from Dhamrai in Savar. However, the case in which he had been detained could not be confirmed immediately.
He added that the body had been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
