Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees marched toward the Secretariat on Wednesday after blocking the Science Laboratory intersection in Dhaka for around 30 minutes to press their three-point demand.
After 3pm, the students left the Science Laboratory area and marched toward the Ministry of Education. Traffic through the Science Laboratory intersection resumed after they cleared the road.
Earlier, after completing their examinations, the students gathered at the intersection, chanted slogans and announced the march.
The protesters said their demands had yet to be met and urged the government to implement them immediately.
During the march, they chanted slogans including: “One point, one demand—resignation of the education minister” and “Who are you, who am I—farm chickens.” They also carried placards calling for the suspension of examinations and the resignation of the education minister.
The students' three demands are:
- Suspension of the HSC and equivalent examinations until the disaster situation improves;
- A fresh examination for candidates who were unable to sit for the July 13 exam due to adverse weather; and
- Resignation of Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
