Holidaymakers continued leaving the capital on the second day of the Eid-ul-Azha vacation, with large crowds seen at the Mohakhali bus terminal since early Tuesday morning.
Passengers who bought tickets in advance said buses were departing on schedule and that there were no major disruptions.
Dhaka Tribune photojournalist Nasirul Islam, who visited the terminal in the morning, said buses had been leaving on time until 9am, and passengers were making relatively few complaints.
“I was at the Gabtoli bus terminal on Monday morning, where passengers raised several complaints. Compared to that, the situation at Mohakhali appears normal,” he said.
“Some passengers complained about being charged extra fares, though many said it was tolerable considering the Eid rush,” he added.
Passengers who failed to purchase tickets earlier were also able to buy tickets directly from the counters on Tuesday without waiting too long.
Mymensingh-bound passenger Azharu Islam said he was travelling home with his family to celebrate Eid.
“Many buses on our route do not require advance booking. I managed to get tickets after waiting for a short time,” he said.
“Buses are leaving regularly from here. If there is no major traffic congestion, we should be able to reach home on time,” he added.
However, due to overnight rain, some buses arriving from northern and northeastern districts had not yet reached the terminal, leaving passengers waiting at a few counters.
