Inqilab Mancha has announced an “all-out” blockade in all divisional cities of the country, demanding the speedy arrest and trial of those involved in the murder of Sharif Osman bin Hadi. The program will begin at 2pm on Sunday.
Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber announced the blockade around 11:30pm on Saturday from Shahbagh, initially saying it would start at 11am on Sunday. However, the organisation later revised the schedule.
In a Facebook post, Inqilab Manch said its program for the rest of Saturday night had been postponed and that no one would remain at Shahbagh overnight.
“The blockade program will continue in all eight divisions, including Dhaka, from 2pm tomorrow (Sunday) after reviewing the press conference of the DMP commissioner,” the post said.
Leaders and activists of Inqilab Manch have been blocking the Shahbagh intersection in the capital for the past two days, pressing for the arrest and trial of those responsible for Osman Hadi’s murder. A similar blockade has been underway at New Market in Chittagong since Saturday afternoon.
