Festive fervor grips Shankhari Bazar ahead of Durga Puja

The century-old Shankhari Bazar in Old Dhaka has taken on a festive look as preparations for Durga Puja gain momentum.

Each year, the pre-puja rush turns the historic neighbourhood into a colourful and joyous scene where festivity blends with heritage.

Devotees from the Hindu community are thronging the market to purchase traditional items such as prasad (offerings), conch bangles (shankha), vermillion (sindoor), ornaments, and decorative items ahead of the festival.
