Passengers upset as metro rail services disrupted for around 30 minutes

A Dhaka metro rail train was halted for 27 minutes due to a mechanical failure on Monday afternoon, causing other trains to stop at designated locations as per the automatic control system and resulting in passenger suffering.

An official from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), which operates the metro rail, said operations were disrupted from 3:35pm to 4:05pm due to a brake issue in one of the trains, reports Bangla Tribune.

The affected train was later moved to Agargaon and metro services resumed at 4:08pm.

Meanwhile, passengers shared their grievances on various Facebook groups regarding the disruption.

They reported that the metro shut down during peak hours led to overcrowding on platforms, making it difficult to board trains.

Additionally, long queues formed at various stations for single-journey tickets.
