A protest rally was organized by the Muslim Bhokta Odhikar Parishad, demanding that all food hotels serve beef and that no-beef hotels be boycotted.
On Thursday afternoon, the rally was held in front of Hotel New Rajdhani and Hotel Raj near the Gulistan Golap Shah Mazar in Dhaka.
Speakers at the protest included the organization’s Adviser Arif Al Khabeer, President Sadman Saimon, Organizational secretary Gazi Usman Ayubi, and Shahjalal.
The speakers said that the majority Muslim population in Bangladesh prefers to have beef in food hotels.
Despite the high demand for beef, the authorities of Hotel New Rajdhani and Hotel Raj in Gulistan do not serve beef, allegedly catering to the preferences of Hindutva supporters.
They claimed that such actions deny the majority Muslim population their food rights.
The speakers further criticized these hotel owners, saying that while Muslims in neighboring India are being brutally killed for consuming beef, any hotel owner who sides with Hindutva supporters by not serving beef in their hotels is a collaborator of India’s extremist Hindutva forces and an agent of the BJP.
They alleged that such individuals want to turn Bangladesh into India.
They declared that if anyone wants to conduct business in Bangladesh, they must serve beef in their food hotels.
The presence of beef on the menu would prove that the hotel owner is not a collaborator of Hindutva forces or India.
If any hotel fails to serve a single beef dish, it will be labelled as a Hindutva-supporting hotel and an agent of India. Such hotels will face a nationwide boycott.
Following the protest, Hotel New Rajdhani and Hotel Raj announced that they would abandon their no-beef policy and start serving beef.
