Home Ministry: Entry ban on journalists at Secretariat is temporary

The restriction on journalists' access to the Secretariat is a temporary measure, the Ministry of Home Affairs has said, assuring that a positive decision will be made following discussions with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Faisal Hasan, public relations officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs, communicated the update in a message to journalists on Saturday.

The message said: “The decision regarding journalists' access to the Secretariat has been taken temporarily in light of the ongoing investigation into the fire incident at the Secretariat. After consultation with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a positive decision will be made soon.”

Earlier, a directive signed by Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, special assistant to the chief adviser, cancelled all temporary entry cards for private individuals and suspended journalists' accreditation cards until further notice.
