Retired police officers march against Indian aggression

In protest against what they said is Indian aggression and misinformation campaign, retired police officers in Bangladesh organized a march on Wednesday morning.

The event, led by the Retired Police Officers Welfare Association, began at 11:20am in front of Rajarbagh Police Lines.

The participants, numbering in the hundreds, aimed to submit a memorandum of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The procession was to pass through Shantinagar, Kakrail and Matsya Bhaban before concluding at the National Press Club.

There, a rally was scheduled to be held with speeches from retired officers.

The march was led by M Akbar Ali, former additional inspector general of police and acting president of the association.

In his opening remarks, Akbar said: "India’s dominance will not prevail in Bangladesh. Retired members of the police force are always ready to safeguard the country’s sovereignty."

The protesting retired officers accused the Indian media of inciting tensions and attempting to disrupt communal harmony in Bangladesh.

They also criticized what they called interference by fascist Sheikh Hasina advising disruptive elements from abroad.
