Bangladeshi expat killed, wife injured in Dhanmondi

A Bangladeshi expatriate living in the UK was killed and his wife was injured in Dhanmondi early on Thursday.

AKM Abdur Rashid, 82, and his wife Sufira Rashid recently returned home to Bangladesh.

They lived on the first floor of their five-story building at Dhanmondi 15.

Other floors were rented out, and their family members resided abroad.

A student tenant named Badhon said they heard screams and found the house owner in a bloodied state when they went down.

Badon took Rashid to the hospital without delay, where doctors confirmed his death.

He mentioned not knowing how or who was responsible for the incident but suspected that intruders had entered the house and fled after attacking them when neighbours raised the alarm.

The body is now at the hospital morgue, said Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH police outpost.

Hazaribagh police later visited the scene.
